Within the CEOI, the networking and knowledge exchange activities are coordinated through the Sensors and Instrumentation KTN by Qi3 and NPL.
Knowledge Exchange is the transfer of knowledge, skills and intellectual property between academia and industry, academia and government, between research disciplines, from industry to academia and between companies along a supply chain. Government support for Knowledge Exchange aims to support increased economic performance by stimulating innovation in UK businesses. A key concept is the ability to be able to ‘spin in’ and ‘spin out’ such technologies and Qi3 delivers practical, hands-on, sales and marketing oriented Innovation Advisory Services, interfacing with industry and academia in order to stimulate this.
The CEOI held a KE Conference in June 2008 to explore the Knowledge Exchange opportunities for the current set of CEOI projects. Full details are available here.
In addition to the CEOI Challenge Workshops which aim to engage technologists and explore available technologies, a new group (Space Instrumentation) has been set up as part of the Sensors & Instrumentation Knowledge Transfer Network (SIKTN).
The Sensors & Instrumentation KTN is the national network uniting the talent and expertise of the whole of the UK’s sensing community, from academics and large industries, to small businesses, research councils, and government departments. It embraces all sensing activity, from fundamental measurement principles to instrumentation, data processing, devices, and innovative applications.
Members of this group have access to reports and workshops on technology related to space instrumentation and support from a team of Technology Translators.
For further information about this group and to become a member, please follow the link. The University of Leicester manages the Networking KT/KE activity and also prepares and leads the challenge workshops. |
